French term or phrase: Lien
I have a university transcript (bulletin cumulatif) from Montreal University.

The table contains columns titled: Sigle, titre du cours du activite, credits, note, valeur, lien, moyenne du groupe and message.

I wonder what 'lien' is.
The fields under it contain 'OB' for all courses.

Thank in advance!

I agree with Phil that "Nature [or type] of course" would make most sense here. However, this omits any specific reference to the important point, i.e. that the course is being described as compulsory or optional, etc. in relation to a particular program[me].
of study.

See the links I posted above.

Il s'agit non seulement d'écrire la liste des cours suivis, mais d'afficher le lien entre ces cours et le programme que fréquente l'étudiant (cours obligatoire, cours à option, cours choisi hors description);

See in particular Figure 4 - Lien avec prog. OBLIG.

Quel est le lien de ce cours avec votre programme d'études ?

Here is something similar in English:

v. Modules may be designated as compulsory or optional, according to their importance in enabling students to achieve the learning outcomes for the programme as a whole and, where applicable, to meet professional body requirements. Compulsory modules serve a fundamental role within the curriculum for a programme of study, and achievement of the credits attached to these modules is essential for the conferment of award. Optional modules are offered to students in order to provide an element of choice in the curriculum, and may complement compulsory modules.
vi. Individual modules do not have intrinsic status as compulsory or optional, as defined above, but are designated as such in relation to a specific programme of study – the same module may therefore be defined as compulsory in one programme and optional in another.

Explanation:
Hello

Based on the excellent research work of Alison, I would not put anything like 'link' but the name of the module to which the course belongs.
But do you have what actually comes under 'lien' - is it the names of the modular courses?
