Clothing, home decor, lifestyle hacks, and beauty turned out to be among the most popular categories, while Christmas-related items were high on the search terms for consumers.
European consumers are looking to spend less on holidays this year, in particular, cutting down on presents for others (39%) and treating themselves (37%), according to the latest research. Furthermore, shoppers have indicated that they will cut spending on clothing and home decor.
The shopping trends from Temu show how consumers are seeking to stretch their budgets by going to the e-commerce platform for both daily necessities as well as discretionary purchases due to its affordable pricing. German shoppers are also looking for unique and personalized gifts to make this winter season extra special while keeping spending low.
“When shopping, our consumers look for two things: uniqueness and value. People strive to buy things that reflect their individuality while also not affecting their budget”, comments Temu spokesperson.
An ultimate holiday gift guide
In November 2023, Temu became the most downloaded mobile application in Germany. The platform is committed to empowering consumers to lead their best lives and to afford what they need and want without breaking the bank. This winter, the platform has introduced a curated collection of gifts that will help shoppers find the perfect holiday presents for less than 20 euros. The gift guide showcases unique and trending products that will make pet lovers, fashionistas, home décor fans, and tech enthusiasts happy.
