English to Spanish: Monthly Economic Outlook General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: Economics
Source text - English Global Economic Growth Steady
With the global economy moving slowly along, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its global forecast. The IMF lowered the growth rate for the United States economy, perhaps catching up with the rest of analysts as the IMF’s economic forecast is produced every quarter compared to many other forecasts that are made on a monthly basis.
Meanwhile, energy and metal prices have moved higher or are
off their recent low readings, which could help some emerging
economies hurt by the collapse in these prices and export
growth since the start of the tapering process in the United
States back in 2013.
Furthermore, although we see some stabilization in economic
activity across the world, we also see some more moderation in
Chinese economic growth, which could help keep pressure on
export growth as well as on commodity prices going forward.
The good news is that the Brazilian economy, while still in
recession, is starting to show some improvement, which will
help global economic growth.
Translation - Spanish El crecimiento económico se mantiene estable

Source text - English PREFACE
After having presented our company’s history, our services and the evolution of our shop concept in the previous newsletters, we wish to conclude this third and last newsletter dedicated to XXX 50th anniversary, by tackling the theme of communication, which should remain one of our main concerns.
Internal as well as external communication are presented here, as both of them are indispensable in order to evolve and thus, develop ourselves.
Within the XXX Group, the company values are at the centre of our communication and materialise themselves, since our creation, through corporate charters which have evolved over the years.
Presenting our 50 year’s history without devoting an important part to the company values and culture, would have been unthinkable as it lies at the origin and has been the basis for our success.

Source text - English Purpose and background information
You are being asked by your physician to participate in a clinical study, which aims to compare medical devices in the treatment of the symptoms you are experiencing. The symptoms you are suffering from are due to a narrowing of your coronary artery, which produces poor blood flow to your heart. A technique has been developed, which involves placing a small metal ‘cage’ inside the coronary artery to act as a scaffold to keep the artery open, thereby providing adequate blood flow to your heart. This ‘cage’ is called a stent. The stent is placed over a balloon catheter that is brought to the narrowed site in the coronary vessel. Upon balloon inflation, the stent is expanded and pressed against the wall of the vessel to provide a wider opening for better blood flow. Over a period of several weeks, the inner lining of the vessel will grow over the stent surface and the stent will become a permanent part of the vessel. You have been identified by your physician as having the appropriate condition for this treatment.

Source text - English A wide variety of potential risk factors were studied - socioeconomic variables, intra-uterine and perinatal factors, family characteristics, infant feeding and childhood lifestyle (including sleep duration). Using the definition of obesity as a body mass index (BMI) ≥95th percentile of a UK reference population, it was found that short sleepers (xx h/night) at age 30 months were more likely to be obese at age 7 years than those who slept longer (xx h/night). The estimated risk was 45% greater. The association remained independent of all other factors.

Source text - English Radionuclide imaging
The radioactive isotopes used in diagnostic imaging emit gamma rays as they decay. Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation, similar to x-rays, produced by radioactive decay of the nucleus. Many naturally ocurring radioactive isotopes, e.g. potassium-40, uranium-235, have half lives of hundreds of years and are, therefore, unsuitable for diagnostic imaging. (...) Radionuclide imaging depends on the fact that certain substances concentrate selectively in different parts of the body. Radionuclides can be chemically tagged to these substances. Occasionally, the radionuclide in its ionic form will selectively concentrate in an organ, so there is no need to attach it to another compound.
