Jednakże rozterki naszych prawicowych publicystów są w tej sprawie drugorzędne - obrońcy praw mniejszości seksualnych na czarnych listach nie umieszczają Polski, lecz takie kraje, jak np. Uganda, Iran, Kamerun, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Arabia Saudyjska czy Rosja.
Jeśli idzie o społeczności LGBT w tych państwach, to zapewne są one deklaracją Obamy przerażone. Teraz dopiero zaczną się prześladowania. Już wcześniej geje w Iranie uważani byli za osobników niemoralnych i ulegających seksualnym modom rozwiązłego Zachodu. Ustami Obamy Zachód oficjalnie ogłosił, że są jego szpiegami, i bierze ich pod parasol ochronny. Za swoje zwyrodniałe upodobania będą dostawać brudne, amerykańskie dolary. A przecież i bez poparcia Obamy irańscy geje nie mieli lekko - zdarzało się, że kończyli na szubienicy.
Paradoks dostrzegli co przytomniejsi działacze humanitarni w Ameryce. - Walki o prawa LGBT nie należy przedstawiać jako amerykańskiej. Może, niestety, powstać niefortunne wrażenie, że próbujemy narzucać innym kulturom nasz system wartości i nasz model życia - mówił Neil Grungas, szef kalifornijskiej organizacji Refuge, Asylum and Migration. - W wielu krajach autorytet moralny Ameryki nie jest uznawany, a nawet wartości głoszone przez Waszyngton są odbierane negatywnie. Zapewne lepiej byłoby dla prześladowanych LGBT, gdyby Obama walczył o ich prawa po cichutku, konsekwentnie i bez szumnych deklaracji. Gdyby zrozumiał, że amerykańskie poparcie nie wszędzie jest dla popieranych atutem i powodem do dumy.
Złośliwi twierdzą jednak, że Obama świetnie to wie, w końcu sam zrezygnował z wojowniczej retoryki George'a Busha i zakazał np. używania formułki "wojna z terrorem", choć prowadzi tę wojnę równie intensywnie jak poprzednik. Ale tym razem nie mógł po cichutku, bo jego memorandum skierowane jest bardziej do amerykańskich niż zagranicznych LGBT. Prezydent walczy o ich głosy w przyszłorocznych wyborach.
Translation - English The protection of gay rights has recently been introduced into U.S. foreign policy. It is incredibly bad news for gay people themselves, especially those who live in Muslim countries.
Barack Obama has given a new light to the American war for democracy and human rights. “I am deeply concerned by the violence and discrimination targeting LGBT persons around the world. I am directing all agencies engaged abroad to ensure that U.S. diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of LGBT persons,” wrote the president in his memorandum to all federal agencies.
From now on, defense of sexual minorities is on the official list of U.S. foreign policy aims. Americans will protect and support them both financially and morally (although not in a military way; such far-reaching promises are not made in the memorandum). Governments that discriminate against sexual minorities are to be reprimanded by Washington. People who are forced to leave their countries will be welcomed in the U.S. as political refugees.
It seems that those Polish politicians who do not like gay people, but at the same time admire Americans, have now quite a big ideological problem. However, since Poland is not included in the blacklist made by gay rights defenders, the right-wing journalists’ dilemmas are of secondary importance here. Among the countries which have much more to worry about are Uganda, Iran, Cameron, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia or even Russia.
If it comes to LGBT communities of those countries, they are surely petrified by Obama’s declaration. If they haven’t suffered persecution already, now they will most likely be a target of violent attacks. Even before the president’s open support, gay people in Iran were considered immoral creatures who submitted themselves to sex-crazed Western culture. Now the majority of Iranian society is persuaded that sexual minorities are indeed a sort of fifth column of deprivation. Obama, by expressing his support and offering protection, made gay people look as if they were spies of the West. They will be paid with sinful dollars for their degenerate sexual habits. Even without Obama’s “help,” Iranian gays did not have an easy life. It happened very often that they were hung at the gallows for their lifestyle.
This paradox was noticed by human rights activists. The administration needs to secure allies on every continent to avoid appearing as though it is imposing American values on parts of the world that view the West with mistrust or hostility, according to Neil Grungas, founder of the San Francisco-based organization for Refuge, Asylum and Migration, which represents gay asylum-seekers. “In countries where U.S. moral leadership is not high and where increasingly Western values are negative … there is a real danger people can use this issue and say, 'No, we are cleaning up here, we are going to reject this American imposition of decay,’’’ Grungas concluded.
It already happened once in Pakistan where a gay parade was financed by the American embassy. “We rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. I want to be clear: the US Embassy is here to support you and stand by your side every step of the way,” said Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Richard Hoagland.
Jamaat-e-Islami, a Muslim political party, announced that “homosexuals do not deserve to call themselves Pakistanis. They are the scum of our society.” There were huge anti-American and anti-gay demonstrations in Pakistani cities. “We condemn Americans who persuade people to be bisexual,” announced Mohammad Husajn Mehnati, the head of Jamaat-e-Islami. “For many years Americans have been destroying us physically, calling it ‘the war against terrorism,’ and now they threaten us with cultural terrorism themselves. It shows how cruel America truly is. They try to undermine Muslim values. We will fight against this with all our means!”
It would probably be better for sexual minorities if Obama fought for their rights in a more delicate, consistent and noiseless way without pompous declarations. He must understand that in many countries, American support does not always bring help and is not a point of pride.
Some offer spiteful remarks, claiming that Obama is fully aware of the problems that his support might bring. All in all, it was he who forbade using George Bush’s war rhetoric even though he conducts this war as intensely as his predecessor. But this time Obama could not be noiseless and delicate because his memorandum was to impact American sexual minorities rather than foreign LGBT. It is clear that the president is hoping to get their votes during next year's elections.

Amerykański prezydent zaczął wczorajsze przemówienie od przypomnienia ustawy o tworzeniu miejsc pracy, którą w zeszłym tygodniu przekazał Kongresowi. Przewiduje ona zniżki podatkowe dla firm zatrudniających bezrobotnych, a także roboty publiczne. Ma kosztować w przyszłym roku 450 mld dol.
Obama powtórzył, że walka z bezrobociem nie zwiększy astronomicznego długu publicznego (prawie 15 bln dol.). Opowiadał, jak przez dziesięć lat obniżyć ten dług o 3 bln i przywrócić sprawiedliwość w Ameryce. Plan zakłada, że 1,5 bln przyniosą oszczędności w wydatkach państwa, a drugie 1,5 bln - wzrost podatków.

Rezultaty sondaży różnią się w zależności od tego, kto je zleca. Translation - English Yesterday Barack Obama announced a new U.S. rescue plan. It is his second during these last few days. This time he wants to impose a tax on the wealthiest Americans. The 2012 presidential campaign has started in earnest.
The president began his speech by addressing the American Jobs Act, which he submitted to Congress last week. It stipulates that there be more public works and tax relief for companies hiring the unemployed. This will cost $450 billion next year.
Obama repeated that the battle against unemployment will not increase the astronomical public debt (almost $15 trillion). He described how, in the next 10 years, to lower this debt by $3 trillion and restore justice in America. His plan assumes that $1.5 trillion will come from savings made in budget expenditures and another $1.5 trillion will come from tax increases.
It will most strongly affect wealthy people, who for decades have been paying the lowest taxes based on lower real tax rates than the rest of Americans (the average tax is 23.5 percent, but, for example, 22,000 millionaires, who are subject to various tax reliefs, pay [taxes at the rate of] 15 percent or even lower). “Warren Buffett’s secretary shouldn’t pay a higher tax rate than Warren Buffett. There is no justification for it,” said Mr. Obama (quoting Buffett himself, who is the second richest person in America).
The president is for adopting the so-called “Buffett Rule”, which says that the wealthiest Americans (i.e., those whose annual income is $1 million or more) cannot pay lower tax rates than the average.
Even though there is a strong possibility that the plan for the battle against unemployment will be accepted by Congress, the “Buffett Rule” stands no such chance. “Class warfare may make for good politics, but it makes for rotten economics,” claimed Paul Ryan, chairman of the Committee on the Budget in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“This is not class warfare. It's math,” responded Obama. “Now, this isn’t to punish success. All I’m saying is, if you’ve done well — I’ve done well — then you should do a little something to give something back. And I will veto any bill that changes benefits for those who rely on Medicare but does not raise serious revenues by asking the wealthiest Americans or biggest corporations to pay their fair share.”
Even though Mr. Obama cites mathematics, he uses its rules in a creative way when he calculates $1.5 trillion in savings. His main point on the list is $1 trillion in savings made thanks to the termination of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, which was a foregone conclusion long ago (the president “saves” money that no one even planned to spend).
All of the commentators are sure that Mr. Obama’s speech marks the beginning of the 2012 presidential campaign, which the president starts with the lowest ratings in his career — only about 40 percent of Americans support him.
Apart from unemployment and economic stagnation, the dispute about American public finance is definitely going to be one of the campaign’s main topics. Democrats claim that in the period between 2002 and 2007, just before the present crisis, the income received by 1 percent of the wealthiest Americans was annually increasing by 10 percent. The income of the rest of the citizens was increasing 1.3 percent per year. This resulted in today’s record social discrepancies, which are comparable to those present in the Great Depression era. The Forbes 400 Richest Americans accumulated greater fortunes than the 186 million least well-off citizens (60 percent of the American population).
Republicans' response is that half of the households in the U.S. do not pay any income tax due to various tax reliefs and aid programs. “Half of Americans use governmental money but they don't pay any taxes!”* said Rep. Ryan.
The political war also has a linguistic angle. Republicans refrain from using words such as “millionaire” or “billionaire.” They prefer the euphemistic term “job creators.” Public opinion polls differ, depending on who conducts them. If asked: “Do you think that millionaires, who have been paying the lowest taxes for decades, should now pay higher tax rates?” two-thirds of Americans answer “yes.” But if the same people are asked: “With regard to the record unemployment, do you think that job creators should now pay higher tax rates?” most of them say “no.”
Huge corporations are to pay a killer tax rate — 35 percent. But most of them use thousands of legal loopholes and tax reliefs that were created thanks to many lobbyists in Congress (hired, of course, by the corporations themselves). General Electric, one of the biggest companies in the U.S., despite having a multi-billion dollar income, did not pay any taxes at all. Other corporations constantly avoid paying taxes by entering their expenses in the books in the U.S. but entering profits in the books outside the country.
“Now, I am also ready to work with Democrats and Republicans to reform our entire tax code, to get rid of the decades of accumulated loopholes, special interest carve-outs and other tax expenditures that stack the deck against small business owners and ordinary families who can’t afford Washington lobbyists or fancy accountants,” said Mr. Obama yesterday.

Bez nowego porozumienia w mocy pozostaje zaś umowa zawarta w 2008 roku, która zakłada, że do końca 2011 roku Irak muszą opuścić wszyscy amerykańscy żołnierze. Rzecznicy Białego Domu i Pentagonu przekonują wprawdzie, że negocjacje wciąż trwają, ale wojskowi podkreślają, że ze względu na czas potrzebny na likwidację baz zmiana decyzji w ostatniej chwili nie wchodzi w grę. Anonimowy przedstawiciel Białego Domu potwierdził w rozmowie z AP, że od nowego roku w Bagdadzie zostanie tylko ok. 160 żołnierzy, służących przy amerykańskiej ambasadzie. – Decyzja o całkowitym wycofaniu to zwycięstwo bojówek Muktady as Sadra i Armii Mahdiego, którzy atakując amerykańskich żołnierzy, chcieli osiągnąć właśnie ten cel – mówi „Rz" Brian Williams z Uniwersytetu Massachusetts.

Polacy wycofali się wcześniej
W rozpoczętej w marcu 2003 roku operacji „Iracka wolność" wzięli też udział Polacy. W pierwszej fazie wojny walczyli m.in. komandosi z GROM. Pół roku później Polska wysłała do Iraku ok. 2500 żołnierzy, którzy strzegli „polskiej" strefy stabilizacyjnej. Politycy i biznesmeni snuli wówczas marzenia o wielkich zyskach z irackiej ropy, które miały popłynąć do Polski. Po zakończeniu naszej misji w 2008 roku większość Polaków była więc rozczarowana brakiem korzyści gospodarczych. Operacja pochłonęła życie 22 polskich żołnierzy, dwóch dziennikarzy, trzech byłych komandosów pracujących dla firm ochroniarskich oraz oficera BOR.

Eight years after George W. Bush’s 2003 announcement of the end of the military mission in Iraq, the cities by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers are still being shaken by numerous bloody attacks. At the beginning of January, full responsibility for the country’s safety will go to the Iraqi Armed Forces. U.S. military leadership has been trying for months now to persuade the politicians not to withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq. Gen. Lloyd Austin, the U.S. commanding general, insisted on keeping 14,000–18,000 U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq in 2012; Leon Panetta, the recently nominated secretary of defense, decreased the number to a few thousand. But even such a scenario seems impossible to achieve.
Dispute Over Immunity
According to CNN, soldiers who were anticipating staying in Iraq are already packing their bags. Their families were told that the troops are going back home earlier because the U.S. and Iraqi governments cannot come to an agreement on the issue of U.S. military immunity. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki explained in numerous interviews that it would be impossible to give such protection. The ones to blame for this situation are the Shiite radicals who would not agree with having any foreign military in their country. If a new solution to the problem is not reached, the 2008 agreement will stay in force. It states that by the end of 2011, all U.S. troops must leave Iraq. White House and Pentagon spokesmen confirm that negotiations with the Iraqi government are still ongoing, but U.S. military leadership stresses the fact that any sudden change in the decision would be impossible because the long and complicated process of troop withdrawal has already begun. An anonymous White House insider confirmed to the Associated Press that at the beginning of 2012, there will be only about 160 U.S. soldiers in Baghdad; they will be stationed in the American embassy. “The decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq can be seen as a clear victory for Muqtada al-Sadr and the Mahdi Army. They were attacking American soldiers to force them to leave the country,”* says Brian Williams of the University of Massachusetts.
The Hawks Give a Warning
Some Republicans are afraid that such a decision will make the sacrifice of 4,400 U.S. soldiers' lives a waste. “I think there is a greater risk of renewed violence,” warns Sen. John McCain. This Vietnam War veteran and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee accuses Barack Obama’s administration of ineffectual negotiations with the Iraqi government, and he is convinced that 13,000 U.S. soldiers should still stay in Iraq. Yet for Barack Obama, who is now hoping for re-election, the withdrawal of troops from Iraq gives him a chance to reduce the deficit and fulfill his pre-election promise. His decision is strongly supported by many Democrats, but also by Republicans such as Ron Paul, who is fighting for his own presidential nomination. According to The National, U.S. troop withdrawal evokes neither joy nor fear in Iraq. Millions of Iraqi people saw the U.S. military as hostile occupiers. At the same time, some citizens considered them to be a buffer between various ethnic and religious groups. “Al-Maliki’s government and many Iraqis realize more and more that they need American support to have helicopters, military intelligence, unmanned aircraft, instructors and a rapid reaction force,” stresses Professor Williams.* He believes that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq will facilitate the activities of al-Qaida and Shiite groups. On the other hand, as Professor Williams later adds, having no Americans in Iraq may lead to a reduction of violence because there will be no target to attack. “Al-Maliki will be able to say that he is an independent prime minister of an Islamic government, not a puppet in the hands of the American army,” notes Williams.*
Polish Army Early Withdrawal
Polish troops also took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom, which began in March 2003. Among the soldiers fighting in the first phase of the operation were GROM commanders [GROM is one of five special forces units of the Polish Armed Forces]. Six months later, the government sent to Iraq another 2,500 soldiers to protect the Polish stabilization zone. Both politicians and businessmen were hoping for the great profits that Poland could receive from Iraqi oil. When our mission ended in 2008, most Poles were disappointed with the lack of economic benefits. The operation in Iraq cost Poland the lives of 22 Polish soldiers, two journalists, three ex-commandos working as security guards and one officer of the Government Protection Bureau.

NAUCZYCIELA
Szkoła jest tak dobra jak ludzie, którzy w niej są.
Inspiracją do stworzenia tego kodeksu był dokument wypracowany przez katolickich nauczycieli na Słowenii, zrzeszonych w Słoweńskim Stowarzyszeniu Nauczycieli Katolickich . Przejrzeliśmy wiele podob-nych kodeksów, jakie pojawiły się w Polsce, Szwecji i we Włoszech. Jednak kodeks słoweński najmniej przypominał dokument zawierający sformułowania narzucające nauczycielowi co powinien a czego nie powinien. Bardziej koncentrował się na opisie idealnej sylwetki na-uczyciela sugerując pewne postawy związane z jego rolą wychowaw-czą i osobistym rozwojem.
Celem tego kodeksu jest udzielenie porady, wsparcia i zachęty, dostar-czenie inspiracji i motywacji do większego zaangażowania i wzajemnej odpowiedzialności środowiska chrześcijańskich nauczycieli. Ma on być znakiem nadziei i światełkiem na przyszłość.
Poniższy kodeks, inspirowany kodeksem słoweńskim oraz kilkoma innymi dokumentami wywodzącymi się z tradycji szkół jezuickich , jest opisem idealnego nauczyciela, swego rodzaju nauczycielskim, moralnym savoir-vivrem. W zaprezentowanej poniżej formie, może posłużyć szkołom oraz stowarzyszeniom do stworzenia własnej syl-wetki idealnego pedagoga, własnego kodeksu, odbiegającego formą od tekstu skodyfikowanych powinności.
Translation - English Teacher’s Code of Ethics
The school is as good as good are the people in it.
While working on this code we drew our inspiration from the document created by the fellows of the Association of Slovenian Catholic Teachers . We had looked through various similar codes from Poland, Sweden and Italy but only the Slovenian document managed to avoid strict instructions of what a good teacher should do and what he should not. Rather, it is focused on describing a profile of an ideal teacher by suggesting certain ways of behavior concerning the teacher’s educational role and his personal development.
The aim of this code is to offer advice, support, encouragement and inspiration to even deeper involvement and mutual responsibility for the results of work of catholic teachers. It is to give hope for better future.
The following code, which is influenced by the Slovenian code and other documents that have their origins in the Jesuit tradition , is a description of an ideal teacher. It is a kind of teacher itself, a moral savoir-vivre. It can serve schools and associations as a great help in creating a profile of an ideal educator and code which form would stray away from that of a text presenting only duties of the teacher.

Source text - Polish AXA to niechciana córeczka mojej ukochanej Julci i Asana z Sumakowej Polanki. Narodziła się w wyniku gwałtu zadanego jej Mamie, czego nie mogę darować sobie po dziś dzień.
Oprócz Axy w miocie tym urodził się jeszcze jej braciszek Atosik (cudowne zwierzątko charakterem przypominające Julcię) oraz zmarła następnego dnia po porodzie ich siostrzyczka.
Axę i Atosika wychowała Balbinka- mastinka neapolitańska będąca wówczas w trakcie urojonej ciąży.
Balbinka była ślepa i na domiar złego w kilka dni po operacji żołądka musiała zacząć karmić moje maluchy.
Bardzo się obawiałam, żeby niechcący ich nie przygniotła, ale prawdę powiedziawszy nie widziałam lepszej matki niż ona.
To niewiarygodne z jakim wyczuciem i delikatnością poruszała się po kojcu i zbierała do kupy "swoje dzieci".
Maluszki rosły jak na drożdżach dokarmiane mlekiem kozim, kaszką ryżową i po dwóch tygodniach mieloną wołową polędwicą.
Po trzech tygodniach były już u mnie w domu i mogłam obserwować jak kształtują się ich charaktery.
Axa od początku była bardzo wścibska i ciekawa świata, Atosik natomiast mniej poświęcał czasu na zwiedzanie -bardziej interesowało go jedzonko.
W miarę dorastania Axa próbowała przejmować kontrolę nad braciszkiem, nie bardzo jej się to udawało, więc coraz częściej dochodziło między nimi do scysji.
Finałem tej sytuacji była decyzja (nie moja!!!) o sprzedaniu Atosika do domu, przy którym na kilku tysiącach metrów kwadratowych pasły się lamy, wielbłądy i inne drobiazgi, których nie zliczę.
Atosik był tam oczkiem w głowie, równie gorąco kochany jak u nas.
Ich miłość do niego była tak wielka, jak moja rozpacz po jego odejściu.
Jeszcze po kilku miesiącach budziłam się z postanowieniem, że tym razem już na pewno pojadę po niego i zabiorę go z powrotem do domu...
Jak widać jako hodowca mam niezłe początki...
Odwiedzałam go niekiedy w jego nowym domu, lecz w końcu postanowiłam tego nie robić, ponieważ jego zawodzenie przy rozstaniu było nie do zniesienia.
Niestety Atosik nie żył tam długo- umarł na skręt żołądka.
Axa to zupełnie inna historia.
Jest to sunia bardzo samodzielna i jak kot chodząca własnymi drogami.
Potrafi kiedy nie ma ochoty na poufałości odejść w drugi kąt domu czy ogrodu, natomiast innym razem nachalnie kłaść pysk na kolanach w oczekiwaniu pieszczoty.
Kiedy chce okazać czułość podstawia do głaskania to, co ma najcenniejsze - własną pupę.
Axunia nie jest typową filą, nie ma pojęcia co to jest ojeriza w stosunku do obcych, natomiast ma jej pod dostatkiem w momencie gdy na horyzoncie pojawi się pies czy kot.
Nie ma takiej siły, żeby ją wtedy odwołać i skierować jej uwagę na coś zupełnie innego.
Budową również nie bardzo wpisuje się we wzorzec- ma pysk typowy dla doga niemieckiego, jednego z protoplastów rasy, uszy usadowione na czubku głowy, gdzie u fili powinny być osadzone na wysokości oczu i kilka jeszcze innych wad, o których litościwie nie wspomnę.
Axa została wysterylizowana, żeby nie przenosić nieprawidłowego fenotypu na dalsze pokolenia.
Jest i pozostanie ukochaną sunią, szefową dla Diamenta i mam nadzieję dla kolejnej suni, którą przywiozę z Brazylii.
Translation - English Axa is an unwanted daughter of my beloved Julcia and Asan, a dog from Sumakowa Polanka. The puppy was born as a result of brutal rape. Till this day I can’t stop blaming myself for all this. Apart from Axa that day Julicia gave birth also to Atosik (a wonderful pet who has a similar character to his mommy) and one more female dog (but unfortunately she died the next day).
Both puppies were brought up by Balbinka, our Mastiff who was at the time suffering from phantom pregnancy. The poor dog was not only blind but also had to start nursing both puppies few days after a stomach surgery. I was afraid that she could unintentionally weigh them down but, to be honest, I had never seen a better mother in my life. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw all the tenderness that she was showing to “her children”. Both of them were growing fast. Especially that they were fed additionally with goat’s milk and rice grits. After two weeks they also started giving them some minced beef sirloin. Shortly after three weeks they could be brought to my house and I could freely observe the formation of their characters.
Axa was very nosy and curious of her surroundings right from the very beginning. Atosik, on the contrary, was definitely more interested in his food. As both puppies were growing, Axa tried to take control over her brother but since Atosik did not accept that, there were many conflicts between them. Finally the decision was made (not by me!) to sell Atosik. He moved to a place where there were huge fields on which lived llamas, camels and some other smaller animals, number of which I was never able to guess. Atosik was the apple of his new owner’s eye. The love that the new family felt towards him was as huge as my sorrow after having to give him away. Even few months after the transaction I had the urge to go there and bring him safely home. Sometimes I visited him in his nice new house but after some time I decided not to because his wailing was killing me every time that we had to part our ways. Unfortunately, Atosik died as a young dog. He suffered from a bloat.
Axa is a totally different story. She is more like a cat…very independent. According on her mood, she can stay away from the rest of the family or put her big head on our knees and ask for caressing. When she wants to show you her tenderness she asks for a little stroking of her bum. Axa is not typical Fila with lots of ojeriza. She is aggressive only to cats and other dogs. People don’t seem to be interesting enough. The built of her body is also not very typical of Filas. Her muzzle looks like one of a Great Dane and her ears are right on the top of her head while in typical Filas they should be at the same level as the eyes. And these are not the only faults but I’ll spare you the details. Axa was sterilized in order not to pass the wrong phenotype onto next generations.
She is and always will be our beloved dog. She’s the boss of Diament and will be the boss of another female dog that I hope to bring home from Brazil.
