I am a native Italian translator and editor, ATA certified (EN>IT), with a doctorate degree in Humanities (Medieval Archaeology and Medieval History majors) from the University of Rome (Italy).
I’ve been translating and editing for over 30 years, after an academic and journalistic career prior to moving to the United States. Since the mid-Eighties, I’ve done extensive medical and technical localization/translation/testing work (SW and HW) (for Aldus Corporation, Microsoft, Philips Ultrasound, and Spacelabs Healthcare, among others). I also translated a very complicated book on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process (IT>EN), plenty of marketing materials, and many games for Wizards of the Coast (among them, the first edition of the popular Pokémon card game) and Big Fish Games.
Between 1991 and 1996, I was a full-time staff copy editor at Microsoft, in US Domestic Marketing (in English) leaving the company at the senior level in 1996. I still provide editorial services in English, particularly as a Localization Editor.
While at Corbis Corporation, with the role of lead Italian translator, I localized and translated the corporate website and a vast thesaurus of SEO-oriented keywording/search engine metadata, also providing ongoing linguistic services.
As Senior/Lead Italian Language Editor at Big Fish Games, I tested a large library of localized games for PC and iOS, managing a daily game release schedule. I also handled all marketing copy for these games, performed localization, translation, and copy writing on all website-related and promotional initiatives, contributed to SEO/keywording efforts for my language, and managed a small team of Italian editors. I am currently a translator/editor/tester (freelance) for some Big Fish F2P games localized in Italian.
As Senior Language Lead at Moravia, I perform Italian language translation, quality assurance (LQA), testing, and Language Lead tasks for localized end-user web content for one of the largest e-commerce retailers.
Translation, editing, localization, localization editing, technical editing and marketing writing/copy writing are my lifetime passions, in both Italian and English, and that's where my talent and linguistic abilities, experience, and knowledge shine.
