How to handle Trados bilingual tags Thread poster: Maria San Martin

Dear all,
i am doing a job using TRADOS 5.5 and all of a sudden, every time i open a tag and close it, both versions appear (visible) on the screen.
I think this situation is getting pretty annoying, has anybody of you gone through this problem? How can i change the options for visualizing only the target tag??

Hi Maria, I\'m not certain what exactly your problem is - you\'re referring to \"bilingual tags\" in the header, but in your post you refer to \"both versions\"...?
Can you please let us know which editor you\'re using (e.g. Word or TagEditor), and what specifically your problem refers to? | | | Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 07:13 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... I think to know what you mean | Jan 29, 2003 |
After opening a translation unit and closing it you can still see both source and target language on your screen. This should be so, as source language is formatted as hidden text and will not print out. But for working with Trados it is necessary to see hidden text, then otherwise you could destroy TAGs and other information in the file.
So get used to it - this is normal for TRADOS and for Wordfast or Metatexis.

If you are working with Word, go to: Tools (Herramientas), -> Options (Opciones) - > unclic the check mark at Hidden Text (texto oculto)
That\'s all!

Hi!
As Jerzy says, I strongly recommend the active use of the hidden text option too.
That could prevent deleting tags and problems when cleaning the file.
