Mi entendimiento es lo siguiente: “notarize” es autenticar/autorizar una firma (i.e. ante un(a) notario(a)/abogado, but I could be "dead" wrong!

agree Paula Velasco : "Ratificar" en el Cód. Civil y la Ley de Enj. Civil españoles incluye, a mi entender, autenticar/autorizar ante notario + otros procedimientos de autentic./autoriz. (escritos/orales). "Verification" podría abarcar todos los tipos.

legal recognition of signature

Taña´s is good too. Mine is probably more in terms of electronic signatures, and I suspect that isn´t the case here.

Context, context...more is always better! To me, this context seems to refer to some kind of action that is subject to approval by the company (the firm).

Well, maybe not, if it's referring to an affidavit. Still, there's not much context available to get a very good idea...
