Spanish term

la repetición en la ejecución de procesos

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Standardisation of company processes
Hi All,

I am currently translating a documentation regarding a company's standardisation efforts, and am having difficulty translating the above phrase. It appears in the following context:

"Para incrementar la satisfacción y fidelidad de nuestros clientes es clave avanzar en la colaboración entre áreas de la empresa y la simplificación y mejora de la operativa, sobre la base de la repetición en la ejecución de procesos como mecanismo para establecer hábitos y cambiar la cultura"

My draft translation is "based on repeating process execution", but I'm not 100% happy.

Does anyone have any advice as to how to tackle this?!

Thanks in advance

Darren

repetition/consistency in the execution of processes

I think the literal translation works 100 % fine, though 'consistency' has a slightly more positive slant to it.

on the basis of repetition in the execution of processes

You could also replace "the execution of" for "the implementation of" or "carrying out" (without 'the' and 'of')

agree Jennifer Forbes : What about "repetition and consistency ..."?

standardised process execution

other option. some additional info you may find here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9000
Example sentence:

on the basis of standardised process execution...

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : You could leave out "execution" and say "standardised processes".

thanks philgodard. also good option without executions...

process performance repeatability

I think this might be what they're referring to.
I'm aware the original reads "repetition",
but they probably meant "repeatibility" which, in this case,
means that you carry out a process in the same way at all times
(to the extent possible).

Spanish term (edited): la repetición en la ejecución de procesos

seamlessly integrated processes

This would be my approach here. The source text is not exactly, shall we say, sophisticated, whereas English IT speak usually tries to be downright sophisticated.

There’s lots of room to cut the word count down in the English too, which I would be inclined to do to achieve this “sophistication”. For example “la simplificación y mejora de la operativa” — “to simplify and enhance operations” could be shortened to “to streamline operations”. Another example is "como mecanismo", which I feel is redundant as it adds nothing.

By the way, not exactly sure what is meant with “cambiar la cultura”... presumably it means something like correct any bad habits identified?

“Para incrementar la satisfacción y fidelidad de nuestros clientes es clave avanzar en la colaboración entre áreas de la empresa y la simplificación y mejora de la operativa, sobre la base de la repetición en la ejecución de procesos como mecanismo para establecer hábitos y cambiar la cultura.”

“To increase customer satisfaction and loyalty, it is crucial to foster greater collaboration within the company and to streamline operations using seamlessly integrated processes to identify habits and change the culture.”

Good luck :)

agree Richard Hill : I think this work is inspired, especially, but not only, “to streamline operations”, and if I was the asker I'd use most of it in my translation. I'm convinced :)

Thanks, Rich. My understanding of “repetition” here is more akin to being “consistent”, which I felt I incorporated with “seamless”, as in the definition “smoothly continuous or uniform in quality.” http://tinyurl.com/m582gg :)

process repetition

I see "execution" as totally redundant in English
Peer comment(s):

agree Richard Hill : I think its important to mention that the processes are repeated, in that such repetition is the means whereby habits are identified and agree that "execution" is redundant
