German term
der Unterboden darf nicht nachwippen
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Construction / Civil Engineering
I haven't been able to find a suitable translation for 'nachwippen' as a verb so any help would be greatly appreciated. This is from the terms and conditions of a company that provides flooring for trade fair stands.
Sentence:
Vor allem beim Verlegen auf Haftgitter, wobei eine flächige Fixierung stattfindet, darf der Unterboden nicht nachwippen, da sich dadurch das Haftgitter lösen und die eigentliche Klebekraft verlieren kann.

Selected
buckle
Dictionary definition of 'buckle':
to bend, warp, or give way
Though meaning of 'buckle' doesn't explicitly include the idea of 'wippen', it would lead to that, and still make sense in the context, I guess.

: buckle has a completely different meaning - it's one-time/permanent. Wippen is dynamic/reversible. I think it is exactly the "idea" that we have to get right. In this context it would mean "floor must not break" (obvious enough) Spec says: No flexing

: 'Buckle' is the wrong choice for the reason stated above.

Kalyani Gadre
: could we simply say the floor / floor boards should not be bouncy

I think that would work. Thanks, Kalyani!

I don't see a problem with that..

: 'bouncy' doesn't sound very technical. Maybe something like 'does not leave space/room/scope for bounce' would suit the register better?

It doesn't. That's because nobody would express this in a more technical manner in English. I am happy to change my mind but at this point I haven't seen anything that would sway me..
