Has anyone come across "référentiels" in this context, and what does it mean?

Guidelines and Expert Consensus Documents
This is just a suggestion - The European Society of Cardiology produces these documents which 'summarize and evaluate all currently available evidence on a particular issue with
the aim of assisting physicians in selecting the best management strategy for an individual patient suffering from a given condition, taking into account the impact on outcome, as well as the risk/benefit ratio of particular diagnostic or therapeutic means.'
The document 'Guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infective endocarditis' has a section on antibiotic prophylaxis on p. 7
Lack of scientific evidence for the efficacy of infective endocarditis prophylaxis........
1) The existing evidence does not support the extensive use of antibiotic prophylaxis recommended in previous guidelines.
(2) Prophylaxis should be limited to the highest risk patients (patients with the highest incidence of IE and/or highest risk of adverse outcome from IE).
(3) The indications for antibiotic prophylaxis for IE should be reduced in comparison with previous recommendations.
