English term
performance polymers
English to German
Tech/Engineering
Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Chemie
The biomaterial development is accompanied by a rapid development in the petrochemical industry. Shale gas condensates are differentiating petrochemical product profiles. While the economics of fossil based olefins improves, we may face a lack of aromates, which are needed not only for packaging polyesters but also for *performance polymers*

I wonder whether there is a German word for this
If anyone has an idea what shale gas condensates are ... I think it should read: shale gas and its condensates

I think the company website posted below says it all.
Plenty of other references on the web with uses from medical to dental and automotive.

For example:
This release improves the capability of RTA in handling shale gas condensates through a more advanced numerical model, Modified Black Oil. The primary benefit is more reliable reservoir characterization and long-term production forecasting of gas condensates.

This article explains quite well (not too technical) what gas condensates are and where and how they occur.

Shale gas is one of the unconventional gas group - shale gas, tight gas and coal bed methane. The "unconventional refers to the rocks they are in, not the gases themselves.
We will probably soon be hearing more about them as the controversy over fracking heats up - this is namely the most practicable method for releasing and extracting them.
Most natural gas deposits are accompanied by condensates in one form or another.

Trivia: back in the eighties, I worked on the data processing of a seismic survey recorded to investigate the subsurface before and after the first fracking (hydraulic fracturing) operation ever carried out in Germany.
It seems a bit late to be banning it now, over 300 fracks have been carried out in Germany alone since the nineteen-eighties

Thanks for the references to shale gas condensates - however, first one does not open, second one does not refer to any condensates. But I will struggle along |

Good luck.
