English term

location-based + location-enhanced

English to German Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping eCall-System

In-vehicle telematics systems, provisioning both push-button emergency notification (commonly referred to as eCall, MayDay or SOS systems) and automatic collision notification (ACN systems), pose much less of an immediate challenge to PSAPs because no hardware or software upgrades are required initially in the PSAP to deliver the location of telematics-based, vehicle emergencies. All of the technology is provided by the response center of the Telematics Service Provider (TSP), where it is primarily used for a wide variety of nonsafety-related applications. In addition to the fact that the volume of telematics emergencies remains miniscule when compared to signals via wireline and wireless emergency channels coming into a PSAP, these emergencies don’t require extensive PSAP call-taker screening. TSPs already filter out non-emergency signals. In fact, one of the hallmark benefits of the telematics’rapid deployment of location-based emergency response across North America was its ability to provide ubiquitous coverage (via investment in digital maps) regardless of the technical sophistication of the local PSAP. Note in North America how quickly telematics-based **location-enhanced response** was deployed via private investment versus the continuing struggle to deploy **location-based response** for wireless telecommunications via the public E911 mandate.

http://www.dafu.de/redir/redir-glossar.html
