Ο αγγλικός όρος jammer είναι ελλιπής ως προς το ότι περιγράφει τη διαδικασία, αλλά όχι το σκοπό του jamming.
Το jamming δίνει την εντύπωση ότι δεν μπορούμε να μιλήσουμε στο κινητό μας γιατί μας παρεμβάλλουν θόρυβο / παράσιτα στο σήμα.
Ωστόσο:
When used, the jammer effectively *disables* cellular phones. These devices can be used in practically any location, but are found primarily in places where a phone call would be particularly disruptive because silence is expected.
