"4 bungalows de bois lazurés de tons acidulés"; I think there may be a typo, as I cannot find this word even in the Petit Robert...any ideas out there?

Sorry, in English : lasure. It's a type of paint or finish that lets the grain of the wood show through.

: Yes, it is more than a stain but less than a varnish, but there isn't really one standard term in EN.

treated with wood preservative paint/lazure paint
Lazure in France has wood preservative and insecticide as components. THe term 'lazure' in English refers to the application of thin, almost transparent layers of paint. It is not varnish. It is similar to what in Dutch is called 'beits' , which translates as stain, is available in transparent and opaque versions but does not contain wood preservative and insecticide.
