My suggestion was: the so-called 'balancoire' technique
I think that when I typed the ' , it stopped recording what I typed thereafter. I mean, I typed the entire phrase above as my suggestion, but it did not all show up.

I wouldn't use the turn of phrase "so-called" here. It's not a so-called torture. it is real torture.

so-called is soi-disant, prétendu. not really appropriate here. and there is an English equivalent. just leaving it as balançoire here is wrong. it's not a word that similar to English.people who wrote your ref weren't translators
