French term
ensilage, enrubannage, foin
French to English
Other
Livestock / Animal Husbandry
Cattle feed
** I KNOW these are three different terms - please read on **
This is a document about milk production, and this section deals with how the dairy cattle are fed.
The three terms comme under the heading "Fourrages conservés", and the two examples are "herbe coupée et plus ou moins séchée" and "maïs haché". The three also appear in the following sentence : elle peut vivre en étable et consommer de l’herbe conservée sous différentes formes (***ensilage, enrubannage, foin***).
I have put them together because as far as I can work out "ensilage" can either be a technique or its product, "enrubannage" is a technique and "foin" is a product, which makes it unclear to me how best to do justice to the trio in English.
Many thanks for your help
