Italian term

ad azione calmante

Italian to English Medical Cosmetics, Beauty
Salve, sto traducendo alcuni testi inerenti il settore cosmetici e c'è un aggettivo che ho dubbi sulla resa in inglese.

Metto la frase originale con l'aggettivo fra virgolette e a seguire la traduzione della frase e l'aggettivo tradotto fra parentesi.

L'esclusivo pool di attivi ''ad azione calmante'', antiossidante, protettiva e idratante, ne consente un uso quotidiano e continuato, rendendo il trattamento ben tollerabile anche dalle pelli più delicate.

This is an exclusive complex of active ingredients having ''skin-conditioning'' anti-oxidant protective and moisturizing effects.............

calming/soothing effect

I often use the term "effect" in these contexts. English cannot translate this word literally to get the correct meaning here.
Example sentence:

"Benefits: Reduces swelling, bruises and has a calming and SOOTHING EFFECT."

"Thanks to its Panthenol ingredient, NIVEA Creme can have a soothing and CALMING EFFECT on small wounds. Its CALMING EFFECT supports the skin’s own regenerative qualities."

Thank you dandamesh!
neutral Lara Barnett : I wouldn't use "action" in this context and there is no need to hyphenate the term anyway.//What is wrong with "anyway", it is a figure of speech, I am sorry you see it as negative.//http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/anyway?s=t

I respect your opinion, but I can surely do without your "anyway".
neutral philgoddard : I agree with all of Lara's points, and I think you've misunderstood "anyway".

disagree Fiona Grace Peterson : "Action" is inappropriate in this case, and the hyphenation too.

soothing/calming

You don't need to translate "ad azione". It doesn't add anything to the meaning.

agree Fiona Grace Peterson : Agree with Phil. No need to translate "ad azione" here.

properties

As "ad azione" refers to "calmante, antiossidante, protettiva e idratante", not just "calmante", another option would be to translate this as:

"Its unique blend of active ingredients with soothing, antioxidant, protective and hydrating properties....."
