Italian term

frazion. ex [+numero]

Italian to English Law/Patents Real Estate
From the description of the land owned by one of the parties in a 'statuto': 'facente parte della predetta lottizzazione, contraddistinto in Catasto al foglio 52, part. 110 di mq. 6.500 - frazion. ex 57 ...'

'frazion. ex' is repeated several times in a long list of plots of land, sometimes followed by a different number.

Is a 'frazione' in the sense of a hamlet ever referred to by a number? Or could this be "formerly section 57'?
Proposed translations (English)
5 portion

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 14, 2005:
Thanks, Peter. Do you mean that you understand 'ex' to be equivalent to 'of' here (as in 'out of', I guess)? So would this be 'portion of 57' without any sense of 'formerly'?

portion

Could also use fraction, but "portion of" is more common
