Italian term

certificato di idoneità

Italian to English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime
Here I am again with more doubts from my translation of a series of strings from a programme for use by a port authority to manage ships arriving, loading/unloading and departing from the terminal.
One of the entries in a list of certificates to be presented is: "Certificato di idoneità". I had found "Certificato di idoneità al mare" translated as "Certificate of seaworthiness", but then a few lines later I came across "Certificato di navigabilità", which I would certainly translate as "seaworthiness". Can anyone help me with another way of translating "ideoneità" in this context? Thanks, Sarah.

I absolutely agree with Marie in view of the lack of further context.
Marie Scarano Aug 22, 2008:
Perhaps this port has specific requirements for ships that enter. Maybe it would be better to leave it as generic as possibile, as in the original, with something like "Certificate of conformity"...
Sarah Gregg (asker) Aug 22, 2008:
Unfortunately as this is just a list, I can't be sure of the context, but I don't think it's the crew as there is a special section for all crew-related matters further on. As well as "Certificato di idoneità" on its own, there are also "Certificato di idoneità al trasporto di merci pericolosi" and "Certificato di idoneità al trasporto di veicoli"... if that helps!
Juliette Scott Aug 22, 2008:
Could this be qualification of the crew? See here: http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:EkJrQ2ID2hcJ:www.traspo...|lang_en|lang_it&client=safari
