birth certificates In Ireland the office of registrar of births is located on the ground floor of the maternity hospitals so that parents can register their baby and a birth certificate can be issued before leaving hospital.

birth certificates Technically, birth certificates are issued by a government department, for example in the UK by the General Register Office. Hospitals cannot issue a birth certificate.
