Discussion

Anna Herbst Dec 6, 2008:
Flash mob 'Flash mob' is the term commonly used in Swedish by those taking part in the flash mobs as well as by serious media organisations including Sydsvenskan and Sveriges Radio, so let's stay with it. It is not the translator's job to create new words.
Thomas Loob Dec 5, 2008:
Blixtmobb Then lets find a Swedish word for it. Blixtmobb?
Henrik Brameus Dec 5, 2008:
Flash Mob Even Swedish newspapers use flash mob as description.
Jonas Frizell Nov 28, 2008:
No translation Agree. On portals like Facebook and others, the action is refered to as "flash mob" in Swedish as well.
Thomas Johansson Nov 27, 2008:
fhwiowfhwqhfascniscainopsacponsacpojcsop I don't think there is one specific Swedish term corresponding to these different uses. I suspect the term "flash mob" would be used especially by street activists: a fast, unexpected surprise action targeting a specific location to distribute flyers etc. and then quickly disperse before the police or relevant security turns up. In this sense, I think the Swedish "snabbaktion" might be appropriate.

Flashmob

Definition from Malmö Flash Mob / Facebook:
En flash mob är när en grupp människor plötsligt samlas på en offentlig plats, och där gör någonting oväntat för att sedan snabbt försvinna från platsen.

Tanken är att det ska se ut som en spontan aktion för att få omvärlden att reagera. Vårt mål är att göra detta som en kul grej för att röra runt i vår vardag.
Example sentences:
Flash mob lurade Festival-tv Kl 18.35 ägde en flash mob rum på Gustav Adolfs torg, mitt i festivalvimlet. Festival-tv blev blåsta på konfekten. Rätt åt oss! (Sydsvenskan )
Note from asker:
I believe "virage" may refer to an auxiliary drive, possibly going off at an angle. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBemBuOrWlY. Your GV is the "groupe virage" and the "réducteur" is the gearbox.
For further clues and clarification, "CMD offre des groupes de commandes mécaniques de transmissions de puissance pour ces fours: avec un entraînement traditionnel comprenant la couronne dentée FerryNod®, le pignon et ses paliers, le réducteur principal et ses accouplements ainsi que le groupe de virage." in http://www.cmdgears.com/industries/environnement/ and "Hilfsantriebe Auxiliary Drives Groupes de virage " in http://pdf.directindustry.fr/pdf/flender-gmbh-siemens-company/flender-elevateurs-godets/7015-132664.html
Here, 'virage' = 'barring' — turning soemthing a lot slower than its normal operating speed for checking, etc. So it would clearly need an extra reduction gear(box) to achieve this much slower speed.
Absolutely. Here is a good illustration of the very grinding process in question: https://www.motioncontroltips.com/what-is-an-inching-drive/. Like the author, I like the idea of a "Sunday drive"! Ha ha.

agree Mårten Engelberg : "flashmob" 10 ggr fler än "flash mob" (bäst att även byta ref. också - t.ex. Malmö = Stockholm Flashmob | Facebook)
