walkout basement

Sloped as in built on a slope, why not? It's really the only thing that makes sense. The basement is light because it has windows on one side. (What we call a walkout basement in the US).

neutral Rolf Buesken (X) : There are basements in Europe where the house is on flat ground which is recessed just for the windows.

Well, walkout basements are not necessarily built on a natural slope, the point is, that at some point there is room to have real windows. But there might be a better way of describing one.
