Für Abonnement kann man subscription oder season ticket verwenden. Sind die beiden Begriffe synonym? Ich lektoriere einen Text über Bestimmungen für Opernabos und in der Übersetzung werden beide Ausdrücke abwechselnd gebraucht.

Jonathan, that was exactly my guess and the reason why I posted the question. So I should stick with subscription then.

Eszter, I think subscription means opera-goers can select several concerts to attend each season, whereas a season ticket allows entry to all concerts (though there may be a waiting list to do so)
