Diese darf nur bei Gegenständen, bei denen eine tatsächliche Übergabe des Gegenstandes an den Pfandgläubiger aufgrund seiner tatsächlichen Ausgestaltung untunlich im Sinne des Gesetzes (z.B. Flugzeug) ist, vorgenommen werden.

§ 452 [AGBG]. Bei Verpfändung derjenigen beweglichen Sachen, welche keine körperliche Übergabe von Hand zu Hand zulassen, muß man sich, wie bei der Übertragung des Eigentumes (§ 427), solcher Zeichen bedienen, woraus jedermann die Verpfändung leicht erfahren kann.

...usually with a sticker showing that the object has a lien on it. Usually (if it isn't as big as an airplane, for example) the object is given over (ownership is transferred) to the lienor (pledgee). I know my explanation isn't differentiated enough, but I just don't have the time right now... ;-)
