German term

angepasste Verschiebung

German to English Other Military / Defense Military Terminology
From a Swiss Army work reference

Verantwortlich im abgesessenen Einsatz (der Füsiliere) für die gefechtstechnisch angepasste Verschiebung des Rad Spz 93.

From my previous post I know this is referring to the action of the armoured fighting vehicle during dismounted deployment of infantry. But what precisely does angepasste Verschiebung mean here? Is it something to do with giving covering fire during action?

Discussion

Oliver Walter Jun 29, 2006:
I think a Rad Spz is a Radschützenpanzer = armoured personnel carrier (wheeled, not tracked):

Shane London (asker) Jun 29, 2006:
Yes. the Rad Spz 93 is a wheeled armoured fighting vehicle. There's a webpage somewhere with Rad Spz (APC) 93 on it.
Actually, strategic sounds good for 'angepasste'.
Jonathan MacKerron Jun 29, 2006:
sorry, I assume it's the fighting vehicle you alluded to in your explanation
Jonathan MacKerron Jun 29, 2006:
any idea what a Rad Spz 93 is?
Armorel Young Jun 29, 2006:
Don't forget that angepasst goes with gefechtstechnisch - I can't picture what is being described, but it is a Verschiebung that is adapted for the military/technical requirements

"combat-adapted" gets plenty of googles
Peer comment(s):

agree Oliver Walter : with "displacement" meaning "going somewhere else"

neutral Kim Metzger : Wouldn't you say "strategic" is on a much higher level? This is on the level of an infantry squad.

agree gangels (X) : the rad.etc's combat-related relocation (or repositioning), I'd say

combat-ready deployment

Verschiebung usually means repositioning or redeploying soldiers, but here it seems to refer to getting the vehicle ready for combat.
gefechtstechnisch angepasste Verschiebung - combat-ready deployment

Responsible for having riflemen get the wheeled armoured fighting vehicle ready for combat deployment
