marriage official

In the Malay language, the prefix "juru" means an expert or specialist of some sort, usually followed by a stem denoting the area of specialty or expertise. In many cases, the stem is borrowed from another language, as in “juruaudit (auditor), “jurucamera” (cameraman), “juruoptik” (optician), etc.

NIKAH is an Arabic word meaning “marriage.” JURUNIKAH is an official who is authorized to perform marriage ceremonies.
