I quit my inhouse job 14 months ago, so my goals/expectations for this year were really quite simple:
- build a small but stable client base (done: small & stable) during this year
- be able to live off of only what I earn as a freelancer, even if that meant sticking to a tight budget for the year (done, and with a less stricter budget than I'd expected)
The unexpected: I managed to save enough to afford going back to school to pursue further studies next y... See more I quit my inhouse job 14 months ago, so my goals/expectations for this year were really quite simple:

Met: in terms of attracting a number of new "fallback" clients for when/if an "inner circle" client has a quiet period.

Met: in terms of continuing professional development, although my expectations for 2008 will be higher in this area, given I'll be based most of the year in the UK where there is far more on offer (compared to Portugal where I live the rest of the time).
Surpassed: in terms of keeping up with technology, to the extent it helped improve my productivity tremendously.
Met: in terms of keeping to my rule of not letting others infringe upon/abuse my time, which was an awful problem in 2006 with a particular colleague. But also surpassed in terms of a couple of new virtual friendships with true professionals who share their expertise in a true give-and-take fashion.
All in all, a very rewarding year on the professional front.
