From the photos of him that I've seen, I'm guessing he's what might be described as a 'TV personality'. What does Meckerpott actually mean though?
Thanks for your help.

Selected
whiner, complainer
Meckern is to complain or to whine about something, so these may be good choices as well.

Sorry, pressed 'enter' before the sentence was finished. I meant to write: "Stop being such a whiner!" Alternatively, in British English, they use "whinger".

TV's "Tubby Curmudgeon"
He does look tubby, I don't know if he's also considered a curmudgeon.

"Pott" is not a reference to Olli's girth, although he is, admittedly, somewhat rotund. Germans would say "massig". Meckerpott is certainly in common usage in Northern German and describes a rather caustic / cantankerous personality, as opposed to your common "Nörgler" who merely whines and whinges...

: bellyacher would work in the UK, but 'grumble guts' would suggest digestive problems! Grumpy old man has currency at least in the UK at present. BTW, you don't have to be old to be a 'grumpy old man'.

: Bellyacher--but what about the "pott" part. I'm not aware that "Meckerpott" is a common expression, so "pott" would seem to refer to the entertainer's girth--thus, perhaps (w. a nod to J.F.) "tubby bellyacher".

See new note. Tubby IS a nice addition though!

: agree 'grumpy old man' would be the current UK TV equivalent, because of the current popularity of a BBC show called 'Grumpy Old Men'

He is a bit young to be "Old", don't you think? And hardly as amusing.
