German term

sind nicht um einen Winkel gegeneinander verdreht

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software radiography, visualization
Alle Datensätze haben die gleiche Richtung und **sind nicht um einen Winkel gegeneinander verdreht.**

Help! I've been looking at this stuff too long and can't come up with an elegant rendering of this phrase.

are not rotated relative to each other

The German text is rather clumsily phrased, but perhaps it's best to stay close to the way it has been put. This is the nearest equivalent that comes to mind.

agree Marcus Malabad : or: "are not rotated (around an angle) relative to each other"...redundant, Jack?

In simplest terms, say you have a table in which the X-axis represents days, and the Y-axis things that happen on those days. You could add another table that also had days along the X-axis, and simply add in the events that occur on those days from the Y-axis.

But if you try to add data from a table in which the Y-axis represents days, and the X-axis represents events (equally possible), then things get more complicated. The sentence you're dealing with there basically says that that won't be the case.

I meant to add: It is this twisting of the X- versus the Y-axis that is meant by "um einen Winkel gegeneinander verdreht", i.e. pivoted.

neutral Teresa Reinhardt : if I understand you explanation corrctly, that would refer to 90-degree rotations? Why not say so? "Pivoting"is free rotation around a fixed point

neutral volker_h : from Trudy's other questions I assume that the data here are Voxels of a 3D scan, so they all have the same unit (spatial dimension)

the coordinate systems of all data sets are aligned

"the coordinate systems of all data sets are aligned"

This is a very free translation, but that what the sentence means if you're dealing with 3D-volume data sets.

"Alle Datensätze haben die gleiche Richtung" This sentence effectively says that all data sets are aligned along one axis.
"und sind nicht um einen Winkel gegeneinander verdreht" This sentence tells us that the data sets are also not rotated around the axis along which they are aligned.
In summary this means that the coordinate systems of the data sets are aligned.
