German term

Beleg

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general)
Hi folks.
Context is a press release covering how a paint/coating manufacturer from southern Germany won a big contract.

The article speaks of the people involved and how they won the job. This is followed by the "for further information, contact ..." section.

Finally, at the very end of the article, comes this:

28.02.2008 Mit einem Beleg erleichtern Sie uns die Arbeit!

I can translate it, but it appears to make no sense to me. Is there some German play on words that I am not getting? Is it perhaps some obscure reference to customs--they do mention how they overcame customs difficulties in the article--or what?

I am at a loss.

Any help appreciated.

Discussion

jccantrell (asker) Mar 1, 2008:
@Jonathan: This is why I asked the question, whether there was some hidden meaning that I was missing.
jccantrell (asker) Mar 1, 2008:
They are calling themselves Naturfarbenhersteller.
Jonathan MacKerron Mar 1, 2008:
here perhaps Beleg in the sense of "coat/coating"?
Kim Metzger Mar 1, 2008:
What's the German term for paint/coating manufacturer?

reference

This does not have to do with the content of the text, but seems to be a part of a note for publishing press releases in general. I found this:

Vielen Dank.

I think what this is saying is "We'd appreciate a reference." or something to that matter....Hope it helps.
Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : Quite likely. Otherwise I'd have thought of "Belegexemplar" (copy), but only for books or other printed materials, as opposed to online/web citation.

agree Jonathan MacKerron : yes, some kind standard blurb at the end of not a few press releases in the Internt

Like a receipt, certificate of origin prehaps?

This is little more than a guess, 'cos you've got the context...

Difficult to say without the entire context. They might be asking for a sample?

I think what they are asking is to be informed whenever information contained in this press release is published elsewhere and to send them a “specimen copy” of that publication ( wie Steffen im Kommentar zu SuzieZ schon anmerkte)

See this similar request:

"Können Sie die Pressemitteilung für Ihr Medium verwenden? Bitte senden Sie uns doch einen Beleg! Die Meldung als RTF-Datei und passendes Bildmaterial finden Sie auf unserem Presse-Server"

..and the same request in English:
Please send us a brief message informing us of any publication regarding information contained in this press release as well as a free specimen copy. Thank you very much!
