German term
Außenanlage
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Engineering (general)
railway control systems
Context: railway control systems, specifically control systems for electronic interlockings, etc. The Außenanlage is apparently all of the equipment located outdoors, but none of my googling seems to turn up a standard term. Given the quirks of railway terminology, it may not be a direct translation.
Desired term: UK usage, authentic railway terminology.
Sample specific context:
Die Baugruppe... enthält eine XXX-kompatible Schnittstelle, welche die Ankopplung von Komponenten der Außenanlagen (z. B. Schlüsselsperre) an den Stellwerksrechner ermöglicht.
...
Die anzuschließenden Komponenten können sich in der Außenanlage außerhalb des Stellwerksgebäudes befinden.

outdoor signalling equipment
This is the term used on Indian Railways, who have essentially inherited the terminology from the British. The website below is, nonetheless, a UK-based one. Moreover, I happen to be with Siemens Ltd., India, in the Railway Signalling Department! The other options, which would be more or less equally acceptable, would be, for example:
outdoor signalling gears, outdoor equipment, ... etc., but there are, unfortuately, no appropriate Google hits for these terms.

: about off-sites: Ernst adds the descriptor "(Öl) to this entry, which doesn't seem to fit here
