German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial ... topic of degree thesis (Dipl.-Ing. (FH))
the German wording of the degree thesis is "Erweiterung einer vorhandenen Schlauchschneidemaschine um eine optische Kontrolleinrichtung". I would just like to confirm that my translation is correct, especially regarding the term "optische Kontrolleinrichtung": Extension of an existing hose cutting machine by an optical checking device".
Any better suggestions?

You can't say "expansion by". I'd say something like "expansion to include".

Photoelectric sensor as Gudrun mentioned below seems to be very plausible here. I would check with the customer.

I think "Kontroll" in this context is more likely to be "monitoring" than "control".
