A Google search for this word - over 7,000 entries! - shows that it is the degree of thawing. Angetaut means that it is still very cold, but possibly malleable, and the foodstuff can, in many cases be, refrozen with no great danger. Aufgetaut means it it has completely thawed - it should not be refrozen unless it has first been cooked.

Frosty
: Type `angetaut´ into Google and see what happens! It is not falsch, neither sprachlich nor as a culinary term. And for this you have given yourself a confidence level of 5 - unbelievable!
