agricultural genetic engineering

agree Cetacea : Seems to be more popular than "plant genetic engineering", but both are used, with usage depending on what you'd like to emphasize.

Schönen Dank, Cetacea
agree Rolf Keiser : I'm missing the "green" or "environment-friendly" part here, even though genetic engineering can hardly be defined as such./Thanks for the feedback which is reason to agree.

Asker (in her note to Cilian O'Tuama's answer): "Grüne Gentechnik has got nothing to do with being environment-friendly, it refers to the use of transgenic plants in agriculture etc." // Danke, Goldcoaster.

green genetic engineering

"green" as in environment-friendly etc., not green as in plants.
Note from asker:
Grüne Gentechnik has got nothing to do with being environment-friendly, it refers to the use of transgenic plants in agriculture etc

disagree Cetacea : Definitely not! This is about plant genetic engineering.//Generally speaking, yes, but "grüne Gentechnik" is a fixed term regardless of context. See e.g. the definition supplied by the Max Planck Institue: http://tinyurl.com/y876og9

goes to show that context can be helpful
agree Lancashireman : 'Green' is all the rage nowadays, along with 'global warming' (or 'climate change' as it has been redesignated since this last winter). // Happy Green Thursday!

unless they mean Gentechnik in der Pflanzenzucht/Landwirtschaft
