German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) distribution contracts
I usually translate "verplichtet sich" as agrees, but I can't think of way to include all the elements here without sounding archaic or too familiar:

- A promises B to attain..
- A pledges to B to attain
- A is under an obligation to B to attain
- A is bound to B to attain (sounds like Siamese twins)


Any handy-dandy solutions would be appreciated.

to minimum sales of, etc.
Undertakes may not do it here. Y's building in penalties, so doesn't care about an undertaking; Y's after commitment and is getting it. If A fails, there's a penalty, no?

some form of the word "obligation"....

Is obligating himself to....

along these lines....just my quick input
