German term

zu jeder Zeit aussagefähig

German to English Bus/Financial Management
Hello all,

This is from a document detailing the responsibilities of various departments within an organisation.

The sentence reads "Das Value-Delivery-Team ... ist zu jeder Zeit aussagefähig."
Available? Capable of making independent decisions? The Keeper of All Relevant Information?

Can anyone help with this one?

Thanks very much!

Hilary.

Discussion

Nicole Snoek (X) Jun 29, 2007:
"The Value-Delivery-Team can give a statement at all times" ?
Hilary Davies Shelby (asker) Jun 29, 2007:
Hello! Yes, this is IT - and unfortunately I can't provide the names of any of the other teams. I was thinking along the same lines as Nicole (with the statements idea), but will need to be suitably vague. Anyone think of anything? I've referred it to the client in the meantime.
Nicole Snoek (X) Jun 29, 2007:
Could they mean that this team is, at all times, capable of/ready for giving a status or statement?
CMJ_Trans (X) Jun 29, 2007:
on the ball at all times ? operational? a vague catch-all
Steffen Walter Jun 29, 2007:
You could at least indicate the industry this is about (I suspect IT) and, perhaps, the names of other departments, provided they are not too specific/unique to run counter to your confidentiality requirement.
BrigitteHilgner Jun 29, 2007:
Ich bin gemein und behaupte, ein Team kann nicht "aussagefähig" sein, der Begriff ist in diesem Zusammenhang unsinnig. Vielleicht hilft Kontext, wie Steffen schon angeregt hat.
Hilary Davies Shelby (asker) Jun 29, 2007:
Hello again, thanks for your interest! Unfortunately it's a one-liner, not a paragraph, and i can't really provide any more of the text for confidentiality reasons! I'll ask the client...
Paul Cohen Jun 29, 2007:
Quite a challenge. You have my sympathies, Hilary. Is the rest of the text also filled with a mishmash of Denglish and muddled German? What are the responsibilities of the Value-Delivery-Team?
Steffen Walter Jun 29, 2007:
Too little context. We'd need the entire paragraph to be sure. Also, what type of organisation/company is this about?

agree Maureen Millington-Brodie : like informed statements -I understood it as saying they are never caught on the hop

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks! I've checked with the client - they said "will be available to provide information at any time". So there we go ;-)."

is on standby anytime for consultation

is my guess. Simply, they can give info anytime of the day [or night], 'aussagen' implies testifying or giving a deposition. It's the old PR writer story, just sound sophisticated, don't matter if anybody understands what you're talking about
