This is a question about a context rather then the term. What exacly is a bootlegger in India, or more precisely, in Bombay slums? The one that smuggles alcohol or the one that produces it illegally and then sell cheap? And by the way, is daru an alcohol?

"Bootleggers" are usually found in slums and borders of a city. They earn their living making and selling illicit liquor. "daru" means alcohol or liquor.
