Essas agregações são classificadas como do tipo transiente ([referências originais omitidas]), pois ocorrem longe dos sítios onde residem, durante curtos períodos do ano e concentradas em locais específicos.
Uma agregação reprodutiva é definida como um fenômeno temporário que reúne em uma determinada área indivíduos de uma mesma espécie com finalidade única de reprodução ([referências originais omitidas]). A agregação reprodutiva apresenta tanto importância biológica, no que se refere à manutenção das populações de peixes recifais, como socioeconômica, para as atividades da pesca de subsistência, comercial e amadora, assim como para atividades de turismo de observação ([referências originais omitidas]).
