Dear colleagues, I am having a bad surprise and a problem with Translators' Workbench of Trados 7.0. I just turned on the computer and tried to open the file on which I was working yesterday and the software opens with a strange note (with a dark red colour) saying: "Translation memory too large for demo mode. Install a valid license or connect dongle to the paralel port". What?! I do not have a demo mode programme. Of course I have a valid license, purchased one year and a half ag... Can some one please help me? Hi Fabiana, If you go to the Help menu and click on About, you'll find a button that says "License Manager". If no licence is found, tick (if it isn't ticked already) "Change the license location", then click Go, browse to where you saved the license.lic file, and select it. HTH Giles
Giles, Thanks for your reply. Here what I have seen and what I have done (also a couple of months ago). I was advised by an IT man to move all my files from my documents (which was on drive C) to drive D, so that I would not block drive C by being so full. Meaning that also the Trados File, with all the software, support and licence files, were moved as well. In fact, I thought this was a problem after I tried to clean a trados & word file, and I kept getting an error... See more Giles, Thanks for your reply. Here what I have seen and what I have done (also a couple of months ago). I was advised by an IT man to move all my files from my documents (which was on drive C) to drive D, so that I would not block drive C by being so full. Meaning that also the Trados File, with all the software, support and licence files, were moved as well. In fact, I thought this was a problem after I tried to clean a trados & word file, and I kept getting an error message. Now this! I went to Help, About, Licence Manager, and I noted the path there is still the original one, at My Documents. Could this be the problem? I did no see though any button saying "Change the Licence location". All I see here is (in the bottom) Add..., Edit, Deleit, then on the right I see (from the top): OK, Cancel, Help, Test License (which by the way, I clicked here and it said Testing failed). When I click Edit, (at the window of the location was still the old one), I clicked Browse, found where it is now, clicked, then clicked OK. I then restarted Translator's Workbench and .....Voilaaa!!! It worked. Thanks so much again. Hope this was the problem and nothing will happen again. Warm regards, Fabiana ▲ Collapse | | | Giles Watson Italy Local time: 22:16 Italian to English In memoriam You're right! I'm using 7.5... | Nov 8, 2006 |
Sorry about the confusion Fabiana, but you seem to have found the correct procedure by yourself. It can happen occasionally that WB forgets where it left the licence but it will remember if you tell it where to look.

It was very helpful and sorry I gave you all those details before. I was only worried I was missing something there or done someting wrong.
