Hello,
I am looking for help in generating ideas for a good, clear, original, easy-to-remember title for a translation agency involved/specialized in the Baltic languages, esp. Lithuanian.
It seems not to be an easy task - much harder than I imagined. Would appreciate it very much if you could share some ideas. A small friendly prize for the best offer

Baltext (short form for Baltic + text)
Baltic Connection (maybe uncelar, can be just just anything, however with an aim for helping clients to get connected with businesses in the Baltic states)

Why not Translation Service Marius V..?
I like it better if people appear with their real name instead of hiding behind some fancy creation.
As far as I know people in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia do not like to be treated as Baltic states, so everything with Baltic seems wrong. As a Lithuanian you will not touch Latvian and Estonian target languages anyway.
It not Translation Service, then Language-related names, if you also work as interpreter.

Erik is right, you could also go to the Blue Board and look at the agencies in your country, just to see what the others are called and avoid far too close similarities, then why not, the very same sugestion that Samuel gave is not bad...just to be a bit original

I would go for this one. Apart from its modern connotations, it's the name of a well-known historical institution (trading body in 16th century England).
Keep in mind that the name of a company may become its single most important selling point, if it's managed right. You have to "build up a brand" for that.
Before choosing any particular name, check out any existing companies using that name, available domain names, etc.

A good idea, but unfortunately already taken:

Marius, if you need something outstanding which really catches potential clients' attention, I think you should ask yourself some questions:
- Do you aim at English speaking clients only?
- Does the name have to describe your acitivities? (word "translation" or "language services" included)
- Specialist field within translation, maybe you want to highlight that you're into technical translations etc.
A company name which includes your own name can be a good solution, as clients then perceive a human being. Some translation agencies have also taken their names from remote islands in the Pacific or some mountain in South America etc., which could be a good solution. In any case I would avoid terms like "international" or "worldwide" as it simply overkill.

An acquaintance of mine named his company after the first letters of each of his 3 children, and the result sounds very convincing.
For instance, I would use mine and my wife's first name besides my children's to broaden the possibilities: Phidipaca, Capadiphi, Filpacardiv, etc. Errr, not so great actually.
You may end up with something nice to the ear (and meaning strictly nothing).

A product name was born, "Gardenal". Nothing to do with anything, but it does sound like medicine.
