Trentino & the Sud-Tirol do have a feeling of being "a place apart" from the rest of Italy. There are still plenty of forms to fill in and pieces of paper to have stamped but I'm sure it could be worse.

Sometimes you just have to accept a place for what it is and embrace it "warts and all".
