Hi all, Can we please keep this discussion in English? Alternatively, would you prefer this thread to be moved to the Italian forum? Thanks, Ralf | |

If you have foreign clients then a Moneybookers or Paypal may be best for simplicity sake! And faster payment! Also for Italy of course, but it's not as diffused (in my experience) and Italian clients (agencies et al) prefer the old "you issue invoice and we'll pay you via bank transfer in about 60 days - closer to 90!" I'd start out with a bank tansfer system and see how things pan out! Good... See more If you have foreign clients then a Moneybookers or Paypal may be best for simplicity sake! And faster payment! Ahhh we are ruined by the bad reputations!) ▲ Collapse | | | I was about to ask something like that, thanks for posting this | Jun 28, 2005 |
Hello every body, Thanks for keeping it in English, I do write in Italian but I have friends (proz.com friends) that have accounts in Italy and do not speak Italian very well. Now, it is true that for agencies paying from EU countries (Italy included) wire transfer by using IBAN is not a problem, since the payment is really minimal and the money arrives relatively quickly. My problem is when it is about agencies in the USA or elsewhere out of EU countries group. I know there are Paypal or similar, but my problem is giving credit card data on line. I have had once a bad experience by doing that and to be honest I do not dare to do it again. I believe I can contact the Credit Card company and ask whether it is possible to open/get a new card (different from the one that I hold now, whth which I can shop in Italy or elsewhere) with a very limited credit and limited operations, I mean, for example a credit card only to receive payments and never to pay or never to pay any thing higher then a certain amount, like never above then 500 Euro or something like that. I never checked but I will. It is not easy to telephone to Credit Card companies from Ukraine... What do you think? Have a good day all, Fabiana

I haven't had US experience but I have worked for a Japanese client and I got a bank transfer the afternoon of the same day my client made it!!!! I also paid nothing! Ahhh, the Japanese are defintiely one step ahead! My Italian client's bank transfers take up to 3 days to clear! But admittedly it's free... sigh | | | theangel Italy Local time: 08:11 Member (2006) Swedish to Italian + ... credit cards | Jul 13, 2005 |
Hello Fabiana, Regarding your problem with credit cards, I don't know if they exist in Ukraine, but if they do, I would highly recommend you a prepaid credit card (debit card? I don't know how they are called exactly). I have one, called Visa electron, and it's fantastic. You can pay anywhere in the world, get money from bancomat, pay online, (I even automatically pay my phone bills with it!) and you charge it with whatever sum you like and whenever you like (I do that from internet... You can pay anywhere in the world, get money from bancomat, pay online, (I even automatically pay my phone bills with it!) and you charge it with whatever sum you like and whenever you like (I do that from internet, I don't even need to go to my bank to do that). You only pay a small fixed commission when you charge it (ie= you pay the same commission if you charge on it 2 euros or 2000 euros). So, if you need to use it, you can use it freely, if you just want a credit card number to open your paypal or whatever account, you can leave on it just a couple of euros, and even if someone stole your card number, you would only loose those couple of euros, because they could not take more from it...
