It can not only speed things up but also, and above all, save your arms and hands when dealing with long documents; however, it requires keeping your eyes peeled because, in my case – as I only translate into Portuguese – the mix of European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese is rife with pitfalls, and mistakes can creep in when you least expect them. ... it depends on the quality of the machine-translated text, an option which is not in the poll.

Sometimes it's really good, and it does save time. Others, it's a complete mess and it slows you down because of the amount of errors you have to fix, keeping consistency in mind. In this case, it's better if the client sends a document to be translated from scratch.
