I\'ve not known Jack for very long (and he doesn\'t know I am posting this), but I am sure that everyone who frequents the Russian-English corner of ProZ will agree with me that he is one of the MOST helpful, generous and knowledgeable contributors to these boards.
Well he is also this year celebrating his fiftieth year as a professional translator. I\'d say that is a pretty big achievement and one that deserves a little acknowledgement.

Well he is also this year celebrating his fiftieth year as a professional translator. I\'d say that is a pretty big achievement and one that deserves a little acknowledgement.
As a relative youngster who has not only received the benefit of his wisdom, but had the pleasure of collaborating with him on a couple of jobs, I can say he\'s not just an excellent pro, but a thoroughly nice person (with a quietly mischievous sense of humour).
So at the risk of embarrassing him, I think it\'s a good opportunity to say thanks to Jack and well done on his first half century in the business - roll on the next fifty.

You may be surprised to learn that Jack is also a very appreciated friend at the Spanish forum. Many times has he shared with us his humor, his love for poetry and his human warmth.

...it\'ll be here on Feb 18th - and I shall toast this anniversary with my first taste of that Islay elixir since August.
