Dear All
I am currently doing some research on Ottoman Turkish. I am having trouble locating much written examples dating from the early Ottoman years , 1299....onwards. Also I was wondering if anyone can tell me where to find information on the phonology of early Ottoman Turkish. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Actually, there are no abundant resources on Ottoman Turkish. Its name is even controversial. Although it was one of the primary courses in our education, the foreign linguists and Turcologists are much more experienced and specialised in that, particularly in German and Russia. Ex-department head of my ex-university, Gunay Kut, is one of the most crucial persons on this area and she has many articles published in related magazines in USA and worldwide, though she is older than my grandma. Another web site is www.ottomanist.org Although it is a fairly new site, yet moderator is fast in responding!
And definately Ottoman Archives of Republic of Turkey is the greatest source!
Although some of the could still be classified, British Resources are also suggested to consider.

This book might be of some help in terms of giving a brief summary of translated Ottoman texts, tone, style,etc. not least a new perspective on approach to translation techniques.
